I researched about the timing issue. The default setup on MV is in quantized mode, so that is why many people thought there was something wrong with it. I also heard that early version of OS had some issues, so maybe that was the issue for him. OS update is available on roland website. I don’t own MV, I am considering buying it. I have not seen MV that priced under $600 for used.
it’s not as hands on. since each track doesn’t automatically use the same pgm/patch, the process of assigning a patch to a different track is too drawn out.
not to mention copying and pasting midi notes within the same or different track is another drawn out process.
but the sound and the power of the machine is very nice. it reads mpc2000xl programs without any poblem. get yourself a copy of MPC Editor and you good to go.
Also make sure you get the latest OS v3.54.
It speeds up the load/sav
i been really thinkin bout gettin a 909 to link up wit my mv 8000 to do the sequencing using all my sounds from reason,,,how would that workout?? and does the 909 sequence like redrum??on that old school tr 707 type of sequence? cuz thats what i need.

If You Already have a Piece Of Hardware Like the MV
theres really no need to get more pieces unless your trying to build your equipment catalogue..
Your already using a Software Based Program in Reason.
In Which You can sequence / Use With the MV
Any Sound Thats In The 909 You Can Import Into The MV or Reason.I would suggest Getting Your Self A Mixer Or Some Good Studio Monitors and rocking with that..
you dont need much else after those 2 pieces..
But At The Same Time You can Get Yourself An ASR-10
That way you have the Best Of 3 Worlds..
A Keyboard / Sampler for More Melodic Style Beats,.
The MV for More Choppy Premier Type tracks.
and Reason to Add Different Elements To The tracks..
but it Depends On What Kind OF Tracks You Plan on making ..
ALL THIS ASSUMING U HAVE EITHER CUBASE / PRO-TOOLS or at least something equivalent.
i use and ASR-10 – MV-8000 – Reason 4.0 – And ProTools..
real Talk I Couldnt Be Happier With My Equipement.
i use reason with the keystation pro 88 got 120 gigs soundz,,and the mv,,,my thing is in the mv i can do more than basic premier beats,,i have 2 yamaha hs 80 monitors,,,i want to be able to sequence my drums like redrum with the old tr 707 method,,,that finger stuff just don’t work for me,,i aint got 2 thousand for a 003 wit protools,,plus i fux wit hardware i think reason is enough software for me.
how do you link reason up in the mv? i dont want the 909 cuz sounds,,i like it cuz it sequences drums like redrum,,i would use it like a master over redrum to use all my sounds via midi then in/out it to the mv feel me now?

Yo you can probably get rid of your ASR-10 and just use a dedicated midi controller… You can chop samples with the NN-XT in reason the same way if not better.
The MV and MPC are cool for people who want to buy one piece of hardware & produce. I’ve owned both and IMO they’re dope but slow, take up studio space and if you are serious about what you’re doing you should invest in a DAW anyway so why not just start there. Pro tools for audio & Reason, logic, FL… whatever you prefer for midi.
I use: Reason, Logic, PT, and no external sounds! I had racks and rack of gear and condensed all of it! Now it’s all on my Mac!
Your studio is solid!!! I’ve got an MPC2500 l.e. too. # 187/500. What # is that one you’ve got?
if you doin all that you should just get the meiko or neiko. each daw system start at least 300.
Very good point… I got all that stuff before I knew about open labs but my production crew is looking into getting a Neko soon. The Neko is dope but It’s still a little cheaper to get a computer (especially if you have a network of producers who all share hardware and software like I do). Personally I wouldn’t suggest dropping 4K+ on a Neko/Miko as the main CPU in your studio but It is def. a crazy addition and probably great to travel with too.
true i was thinkin bout get it myself but than again i really dont the vst that much seems like you get a better sound from outboards. i depend wat you tryin to do. i tryin to set up the home base with both modules and have the daw. but if you on the go you might have to stick to somethin smaller like a pc
One of the benefits to any DAW is that you can get most of the sound banks from older synth modules. That means you don’t need to waste space with a bunch of synths and rack units anymore… just a midi controller and a computer is almost all you need. For example, I’ve got all the sounds from the triton, motif and fantom loaded on my computer! Saving space and about $4000. As for VST’s some are good and some not so good it just depends on how you flip the sounds that are available to you.
been a MPC user but I just got my MV 8000 for $250 out the pawn shop still learning how to use it
Yo man! just wanna ask–saw a vid of yours using the mpc 4000–but you still think the mv 8000 is tight?? Still think its worth to buy??

My Mv is collecting dust get rid of the MV8000 and the Akai Mpc get a Native Instruments Maschine, connected to your computer dump all your samples in the pc or Apple computer, and get Ableton live, with Logic or Pro Tools and you are set, you can do much better a lot faster on the Maschine and a DAW hands down, There are some great sounding AU, VSTRTAS out there and you can sample sounds from your triton or any other outboard with the maschine, chop slice, and make midi instruments out of them.
