dude I’ve been hanging around in the underground and 21 trains passed and no-one handed me a roland sp 1200. Am I at the right station?

  • JDVbeats says:

    i agree 100% with you

Scorpion King, you shoul get an MPC2500

  • smackyjack says:

The MPC is a badass machine, but it really pales in comparison to the sound of an SP. Nothing really can get that “tone” of a dedicated 12 bit sampler. If you just dig the drum sounds the YAMAHA RX8 is a 12 bit drum machine that can still be had for hardly any money. I have both the SP1200 and the Yamaha RX8 and I use them almost exclusively when making urban electronic music. The AKAI is really a great machine, probably the best out there today, but I’m not giving my old stuff up for anything.

  • smackyjack says:

Thanks for a great vid. Keep the old stuff out there. Limitations make for really great music.

two of the best pieces of equpitment I’ve ever owned is the Sp1200 and the ensoniq ASR 10. nothing but Gritty , Thick, warm sounding sampling! I work with reason 4.0 mostly now… but, I still give props to the old school gear!

  • soulburner978 says:

  • YungCyfe says:

  • noezelaya7 says:

so how do you save a beat ? like if you have tweaked the shit out of the horns?

  • InnerflamesUnLtd says:

How many bits is the mpc?

  • Moemors says:

seems to be a nice machine but who the fuck made these “pads”? those are buttons thats a joke

  • longbongsilver says:

That machine came out in ’87, that’s what pads on drum machines were like at the time.

  • xGeneralxRaamx says:

hey how do u get those

  • taelue says:

    My thoughts exactly.

  • XavierNarez says:

You don’t know shit about the sp1200 do you?

  • DeepGarageHead says:

What’s the MIDI integration like? Is it an either-or thing when using the internal sequencer? For example, at the same time can you do both A) trigger programmed drum patterns via midi, while B) playing a sound in multi-pitch from a controller keyboard?

  • JetPilderProduction says:

great! big props from dj vinch

  • PointingFingers210 says:

That beat is still hard!!!! I need to get myself an Emu-sp1200

  • montanaboy99 says:
