    nice tattoo man.

  • Troglored says:

AKAI owes you money. Were it not for this fix (which is simple and works perfectly), I would have returned my mpd32 the next day. Now, it’s fine as frog hair. Great work!

  • chriscauldermusic says:

@Troglored Glad to be of service, man. Maybe Akai could throw me some dough…. I sure could use some extra right now.

  • Troglored says:

I would caution people to use a good brand of electrical tape. The cheaper brands have adhesive that’s crap. Let’s face it, you don’t want this stuff coming unstuck once you’ve put the unit back together. Scotch Super 33+ costs $3.25 and is the best there is. There’s enough in a roll to do about 200 MPD32s.

  • chriscauldermusic says:

Excellent advice. We should start a “tweaking pads” side business… buying MPD32s at cost, selling for the same retail price… people would flock to us for quality products.

Just finished this operation on mine, thanks so much for the video! The difference is amazing.

  • chazzdee says:

Dope video I’m gonna mod my 24
And the guy asking about when u hit a pad and the sample stops playing your getting that cuz that section of your drum controller is set to cut 1 by 1 turn that off and you should be good

  • Sinfull702x602 says:

are the pads on the mpd really that crappy that you have modify em?? i thought they were solid and responsive…

  • BeauSun572 says:

Dawgy… thanks for da vid. Solid Trick. im gonna do it as soon as this bitch gets to my doorstep!

  • kissmarton says:

is mpds pads really sucks?what about mpd24?which one is the betta buy?

  • Phroggystyle says:

yes they really suck!!! also the mpd24 and the mpd18. I used the mpc 1000 and now the mpc 2500 which are a little bit softer but still a hard feeling. i like the mpc workfloww, but soon i will try the korg padkontrol with software^^

  • drew1soccer says:

Good vid. This is worth checking out too, if anyone wants to drop 12 bucks. Google “Akai MPK Pad Sensitivity Enhancement Kit” and find it on eBay

  • futureproof84 says:

@kissmarton I find that the mpd 32 pads are actually good. Soft and responseful. But thats just me. The Akai MPD18s pads are bad tho. Too hard and have to pound too hard.

  • krzone81 says:

they sell padkorx at mpc stuff … u put these under the pads to get a better response … i recomend them , they definately help with response

  • l0de says:

I could not agree more. The mpd32 pads are total dogshit, wish I’d known about this mod when I had mine. (I just stuck with my padkontrol)

  • echelondagod says:

Before you all crack open your MPD go to your global settings set you velocity curve to A your sensitivity to 16 and your threshold to 1 and it should work fine mine works fine that way.

  • katmai539 says:

i love the tattoo on your left arm :-)

  • WackBeats says:

i take your word for it that they suck but like homie below me said to use the global settings,i just wondering if you did that before you rigged it up?

    cool vid

  • pjbridger says:

    nice vid

have you done this with an mpc 18??

    would it work the same?

  • squidskunk says:

this is the only vid covering this mod….thanx fer posting it..!

  • squidskunk says:

you did say 4 layers of tape…correct…

  • neBo503 says:

Word up on this. My Akai is perfectly fine how it is. I am not breaking it open and adding tape lol

  • neBo503 says:

That is because it costs 99 dollars. It is a fantastic machine for 99 dollars. If you want to complain, get your money right and get a better piece of equipment.

  • webnTV1 says:

Everybody i know including myself who has the 32 does that we all know…. but even so i have to agree with chris the sensitivity on the MPD32 sucks bad out of the box. Its a beautiful machine i love it more than any mpc and i pretty much use/used them all but the its pointless having it unless u crack it open either that or u just got one of the few sensitivity ones in which case I envy your luck.

  • webnTV1 says:

I did it yesterday and its works Beautifully thanks so much chris! i used 5 on every pad. closed it then 13 was too responsive and 8 and 12 were a little less sensitive than the rest. So i opened up it up again added and subtracted where needed. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!! feels better than or just about as good the 2000xl response wise. Cant thank you enough!

  • marco says:

I’m lost, everyone is complaining about the MPD pads but they feel fine to me. Sensitivity on 16, threshold on 1 and curve on type A and they play like a dream. Maybe the newer ones (I bought mine recently) had some tweaks?

Any way good like with the mods.
