the MV8800 sucks!!. MPC blow it away. it’s hard to get your drum patteren(s) played the way you want(the quantizing on it SUCKS)on the MV8800. Roger Linn’s an idiot for putting his sig. on it. lol.

  • cadabraa says:

Dude, your timing is probably just way off as quantize is EXACTLY like on the MPCs if you select the correct resolution and settings. Before commenting any further on gear, you should at least make sure you’ve actually played around on it and know what you’re talking about dawg. Also, the Roger Linn thing was a joke, why would I want his signature on my MV? It’s mine, not his. :p

  • cadabraa says:

People can and will argue about the differences and so on for years to come about which is better and which sucks, but ultimately it comes down to usage in practice. I think both machines are capable, but after having used both machines(and still using both), I can’t do other but say that the MV-8800 is in a whole different league. It’s more or less a true all-in-one, where the MPC-5k is a lousy copy. The synth is nice, but basically Akai didn’t know what to put in and just copied a lot of MPC4k

  • BOSSALINO71 says:

THE MPC is slowly fading DAW software is the
future way more powerful Than a MPC one synth
is the upgrade what a lost for the price.
you can do all this with a DAW and MPD32 and still have alot more horsepower. MPC is really an old PC in a BOX still going 20 years later they have had there day. SOFTWARE SEQUENCERS are TAKING OVER AKAI knows this, big changes for the Future as computers continue to get stronger and stronger.

  • fuckutube21 says:

great, just like fl studio xD

  • beatjonez says:

soft synth’s kill the work flow,,,by the time you boot up and load all that mess, on an akai and triton you can do all the same, quicker, don’t get me wrong i love my reson and fl8 but it takes out the live part of making music.

  • Demetriwalker says:

Basically a peeing contest with Roland………lol but I still own one.

  • smokegreen2 says:

i got my 5000 2 weeks ago its a beast.i used to use my computer but wheres the fun in clicking a mouse any one can do that .plus i was pissed off with some programs jamming up on my com.hardware all the way

  • lgrocvideos says:

cmon.. mac book pro with a korg nano pad and logic is not enought??

  • karlharleman says:

No dude, this is like the ps3 compared to computer gameing – major difference. I just got a 2500 and it’s amazing, but I’m already looking at the 5000 haha it’s awesome.

  • leunderground says:

some body is real creative, using fl studio, and sounds like dj premier or d.i.t.c. deserves less credit than somebody who sounds like shit, using an xpensive mpc_?
    think about it..

  • karlharleman says:

I wasn’t talking about credit, just what’s the most fun. An MPC, to me, is so much more fun to work with than a DAW. But if you can get it done in fl, you’ve got my respect.

  • joeycarr333 says:

i dunno what to get guys? which is more better and more Stable? an Mpc 4000? or Mpc 5000?
and i know this is a mad question but turning it on, how easy is it to get makin a beat?
cos ive used the 500 and i sent it back took me like 4 hours to assign a snare to 1 pad and i cudnt see the screeen, so advice on them 2 things would be great thanks! ?

  • dallasphill says:

If thats what makes u feel better about using FRUITY LOOPS than so be it! But next time try not to compare yourself to someone who “sounds like shit”!!! Raise the bar!!!

  • leunderground says:

of course dude, i open my macbook, bootcamp windows xp, program a beat with AIFF samples, export, and guess what same quality as a pro track.
why should i i have an mpc.
besides that.. if i wanna have some fun hitin pad with de FPC i can use my korg microcontrol, and thats it!

  • worldcreations says:

yo i think the 5000 is just made for people who do live stuff and electronic techno house music
if you want to do hip hop
    get a mpc 1000 or a 2500
but you sound like some one who’s more visual so just get a MPD 24 or MPD 32 wich is mpc pads but they are made to control a music program on your computer , a rack sampler or rack synth
and dont bother getting some old mpcs
like the mpc 60,mpc3000,mpc2000or mpc2000xl cause they are GREAT but putting samples into them is long

  • TIGERJUNGETV says:

    TIGERJUNGE LOVES MPC

  • danny4572 says:

@worldcreations wtf how would the lower versions be better for hiphop when this can do all what they do and more…

  • worldcreations says:

    @danny4572
cause if you do hip hop you better be putting your money on the 1000 that cost’s
one thirt of the 5000′s price and get a turntable plus mad records and some dope synth that is more suited for hip hop that the one that comes within the 5000
cause you wont be needing nothing more than the potential of a 1000 on a JJ Operating System wich cost’s from45 to 75 dollars and makes your mpc 1000 pretty much a 2500

  • zshoemake says:

    dope ass producers from ATL

    twitter = zaneandrestless
    reverbnation = zaneandrestless

  • ShynAwkward says:

Akai really let producers down by making the 5000 with only 44.1k/16 bit audio.
Especially when the 4000 has 24 bit & was made 5 years earlier!
That would be like Sony making a Playstation 4 that only worked in 64 bit (would you buy it?!)
EVERY type of sequencing software now works in 32 & 24 bit, & I don’t know ANY serious producers who still sequence in 16 bit in 2010 (obsolete technology).

    Make a MPC 5000XL with 24 bit !!
