How do you connect yout vinyl to your MPC and how do you cop the sample do you do it on MPC or another proggrame. Plze answer sum1

Quick question do you have a phono amp to connect your turntable to your MPC 1000?
I used to run a pre amp, then into my computer, so that i could chop the sample in sound forge. I mainly use the MV-8800 now, so I just sample straight into it without the use of a pre amp.
