no you dont…u need JJOS in order to chop easier and faster…i found it for free, but u need to buy a password otherwise you cant save sequences…but all MPCs have stock slice features

  • YoungCash82 says:

programs are pretty much your sounkits over the pads. without em, u cant make beats, and without beats, wats the point of having an MPC? lol…i need to get 1 ASAP so i can put all this knowledge to use

  • DJRomulus says:

  • JaeOne3345 says:

update your akai os to 2.12. It’s available on the akai page.

  • brietzmann says:

if you are working with the rex-loop-player in reason you can use recycle…but a lot of programs have a sclicer

  • noglesby1 says:

u probably need the 128 memory upgrade, u can use a certain type of laptop memory which cost like three times cheaper then the akai upgrade. check out a vid by christianaffiliate called mpc 1000 ram upgrade, watch the vid carefully because at 17 seconds into the vid he scrolls the type of laptop ram that he uses u can get it from amazon or ebay, u might wanna pause the vid when it starts to scroll on the bottom of the screen. hope this helps, the ram cost me about 25 dollarz from amazon

  • YoungCash82 says:

as long as you have the akai os 1.7 or higher or jjos, it should work

  • chrisparris88 says:

  • lueezwushere says:

yo chris, did you ever find out what was wrong when the slice option didnt show up on your mpc 1000?

  • FrAndrew76 says:

can you do this with the MPC500?

  • theANT47 says:

    256 MB (PC_133) sodimm $20-30 bucks

  • quoe1 says:

what you need to do is either
    1. downoad the newer os from akai, i believe you can get it for free on their website. you will need to reformat your mpc after you install it.
    2. download and install jj os for 30- 40$. I would reccommend this option because jj os comes with a host of useful features like timestretch and grid note mapping. search google for jj os. hope that helps

  • tillmanshoobergoober says:

no, it doesnt have the software to do it.

  • lilkidbeats says:

  • ShynAwkward says:

Akia/Numark shouldn’t bother putting instruction manuals in MPC boxes anymore because NOBODY seems to read them!!

I thought this dude was black for sure until I saw his hand on the screen ;-)
